Cook it, committed towards obtaining the B Corp Certification

MONTREAL, July 22, 2021 – Cook it, Quebec’s leading meal kit company, is proud to announce it has submitted its application to obtain the B Corp certification. By that, Cook it wishes to join the international B Corp movement, whose mission is to redefine corporate practices in terms of social and environmental responsibility as well as commercial transparency and governance. Only a few Quebec companies are certified B Corp. The process undertaken by Cook it in order to obtain the B Corp certification will be spread over the course of a few months and the company expects to obtain its certification sometime in 2023.

“We just applied for the B Corp certification and I couldn’t be any happier,” said Judith Fetzer, president and co-founder of Cook it. “I’m also very proud of Cook it for taking its social and environmental responsibilities to heart every day.”

Since its beginnings in 2014, Cook it has always been serious about its social and environmental responsibilities. The sustainable development policy is at the centre of its mission that aims to reduce food waste in Québec households as well as reducing the mental load associated with meal planning. Constantly innovating, Cook it implemented several eco-friendly initiatives in order to tackle some environmental issues within its operations, such as packaging, purchasing, delivery, food traceability and marketing. Cook it also offers socio-professional integration programs to encourage a diverse, inclusive and human work environment.

“We’re very proud of our B Corp application as Cook it was founded with these very same sustainable development requirements and commitments in mind. This certification would be the recognition of our countless efforts to ensure great governance, social responsibility and innovation practices within our company,” said Judith Fetzer, president and co-founder of Cook it.

The B Corp certification was created by the world-renowned non-profit organization B Lab. It’s the only certification that measures a company’s overall social and environmental performance, way beyond its products and services. This certification evaluates the impacts of a company’s activities based on five pillars: governance, collectivity, environment, collaborators and customers. Thus, it provides structure and credibility to sustainable development in the business world. By obtaining their certification, B Corp companies commit to being exemplary corporate citizens.
