Every year, the month of February is synonymous with personal challenges. Since 2012, one particular challenge has gained popularity: Dry February. This initiative, which encourages people to abstain from alcohol for 28 days, celebrated its 10th anniversary last year. But Dry February is much more than just a challenge. It has become a tradition that reflects the evolution of lifestyles and consumption habits.

In recent years, we have witnessed a rise in non-alcoholic beverages. The creation of ready-to-drink and non-alcoholic drinks has significantly increased. Bars and restaurants have also been following this trend by offering mocktail and non-alcoholic wine menus to meet the growing demand from consumers.

Last year, Quebec saw the opening of the first boutique entirely dedicated to alcohol-free products: Apéro à Zéro. This initiative reflects the growing interest in alcohol-free alternatives and the diversification of choices available in the market. Additionally, the SAQ observed a significant 40% increase in sales of alcohol-free products during the same period. This increase reflects the evolving preferences of consumers and their growing interest in alcohol-free options.

In this context, the Dry February challenge holds particular importance. Not only does it encourage people to reconsider their relationship with alcohol, but it also helps raise awareness about the available alcohol-free alternatives. To make your alcohol-free February festive and delicious, here are some tips and tricks:

Aromatic Waters

To give your water a touch of originality and freshness, there’s nothing like flavouring it with natural ingredients. Adding fresh herbs like mint and basil not only brings a delicate flavour but also a refreshing note to your drink. In addition to herbs, seasonal citrus fruits are perfect for flavouring your water. Lemon, clementine, and grapefruit add a touch of acidity and zest to your water, along with their delightful fragrance. For even more variety, you can also experiment with other fruits and herbs according to your preferences. Combinations like strawberry and basil, cucumber and mint, or orange and rosemary add an extra dimension to your flavoured water.

Original Ice Cubes

To add a touch of fun to your non-alcoholic drinks, why not turn your ice cubes into true works of art? Use fresh fruits like slices of strawberries, lemon wedges, or orange quarters for a pop of colour and freshness. There’s currently a trend on social media where people share their wildest ideas for creating super original ice cubes! Edible flowers like rose or violet petals will add a delicate floral touch to your drinks. Opt for playful shapes like stars or hearts for a fun vibe, or more sophisticated shapes like geometric cubes for a chic touch.
